Bangor, Michigan - 49013

Bangor, Michigan

Bangor is located 12 miles from the Lake Michigan shoreline in the heart of Van Buren County’s "Wine Country." This picturesque small town is supported by tourism, small business and mid-sized manufacturing, including metal castings and fruit production. A top attraction includes a train tour of wine county, which can be boarded from the depot downtown. Situated on the Black River, this town also offers plenty of opportunity for some serious salmon fishing in the fall.

It has three parks and many good places to shop. Bangor was named after Bangor, Maine by settlers who moved from there. It was first settled in 1837 by Charles Cross. It received a post office in 1859 and eventually organized as a village in 1877.
