Arthur Carson built a store here in 1864, a larger one in 1872 and a grain elevator in 1881. The village, originally known as Hall's Corners, was renamed for him in 1884.

Today, Carsonville has a population of 888. It is located on M-46 between Sandusky and Port Sanilac in Sanilac County. Lake Huron is less than ten miles away.
