Grand Blanc is located in Genesee County about four miles southeast of Flint and is presently considered a major suburb of the Greater Flint area. It has several shopping plazas, a picturesque downtown and a diverse economic base as a metro area.

This town was originally an Indian camping ground when settler Jacob Stevens settled here in 1823. Stevens son, Rufus started a trading post here in 1826. At that time it was referred to as Grumlaw, which is Indian for "Big White," named after a stocky fur trader there at the time named Fisher. It grew as a lumber town when in 1864 the railroad came through. It was eventually incorporated as a city in 1930.
